SERGEY KATYRIN

President, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation (CCI of Russia)

Born on October 2, 1954 in Moscow Oblast (Region).

Katyrin graduated from the Moscow Automobile and Road Construction Institute (MADI) and obtained MBA degree from the International Business School of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO).

In the late 1970-s Sergey Katyrin had high-ranking positions in the Young Communist League of the Moscow Automobile and Road Construction Institute (MADI) and at YCL's Moscow City Committee.

Since the founding Congress on October 19, 1991, Sergey Katyrin took an active part in the foundation and development of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation (CCI). In 1991-1992 he worked as a head of the Chief Directorate of the Chamber and from 1992 served as a Vice-President and a member of the Board of the CCI of Russia.

In March 2011 at the 6th Congress of CCI Sergey Katyrin was elected President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.

As a President of the CCI of Russia, Katyrin represents the Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the managing level of the associations of enterpreneurs of Russian business institutions. In 2006-2012 he served as a Deputy Secretary of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation. From 2012 Katyrin is a member of the Central Staff of the All-Russian Movement "People's Front "For Russia". He is a member of the Russian Government Commission for Development of Small and Medium Enterprise and a member of the Public Council for the development of Small and Medium Business on the auspicies of the Chairwoman of Federation Council.

He is a member of Economic Council with the President of the Russian Federation, member of the Government Commission for Administrative Reform and a member of the Government Commission for Import Substitution. At the same time Sergey Katyrin is engaged in the international activities of the CCI of Russia as a Chairman of the Russian Chapter of the BRICS Business Council, the Chairman of the Russian Chapter of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Business Council, and member of the Council of Chief Executives of CIS Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

He is awarded with the Order “For Merit to Motherland” IV Class, the Order of Friendship, the Order of Honour, the Medal "For Labour Valour", "The Star of Italy" and a number of other state and public awards.
